Remedy Entertainment pushed out Game Update 1.4.0 for Control Resonant on October 1, 2026, the first major patch since the paranatural action RPG launched worldwide on September 24. The headline addition is New Game++, a mode players have been asking for since launch, but the patch notes posted to the game's Steam community hub run considerably longer than that one feature — covering dozens of bug fixes, audio corrections, and quality-of-life tweaks across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

01What's New in Game Update 1.4.0

Remedy says the launch window has given it far more data on how Control Resonant actually runs in players' hands than any internal testing could, and 1.4.0 is built around that feedback. The studio's own notes admit they don't list every fix, just the ones that "make a difference for players, or are just plain funny." Beyond New Game++, the quality-of-life highlights include a visible Build Power stat on the Loadout screen, a notification icon on the HUD for new purchases in The Gap, a Vendor-availability icon on the map for pinned crafting materials, and a 10–15% reduction in combat intensity in the Unknown Zone.

02New Game++: Run the Campaign Without Limits

Until this patch, Control Resonant's New Game+ let you replay the campaign exactly once with Dylan Faden's abilities carried over. New Game++ removes that ceiling entirely — Remedy's notes describe it simply as being able to "play an infinite number of runs," with artifacts, Aberrant upgrades, and talents rolling forward into every subsequent playthrough. Remedy first teased the feature in a September 25 roadmap post alongside a second promise, a dedicated Photo Mode, and followed through on the New Game++ half within a week.

03Build Power and Other UI Improvements

The patch also tries to make the game's level-scaling clearer. Build Power now sits in the bottom-left corner of the Loadout screen instead of being "buried in the Stats & Effects menu," and Remedy is blunt about why it matters: fall behind the enemy level and combat gets noticeably harder, so the studio wants you running side quests and exploring twisted Manhattan to keep pace. A related tweak lets you glance at the map to see whether a vendor already stocks a material you've pinned for an upgrade, instead of having to walk over and check manually.

04Combat, Audio, and Performance Fixes

Outside the headline features, 1.4.0 is mostly a cleanup patch. Remedy reduced overall combat intensity in the Unknown Zone by 10–15%, added a separate volume slider for radio dialogue, and introduced a 100–300% Power Core Charge Duration multiplier in Assist Mode. On the technical side, the update fixes a VFX issue that could drop framerate during the Artist Resonant boss fight, an audio desync bug, a case where the game could crash when toggling ray-tracing modes, and an issue causing audio to cut out entirely on Xbox Series X. It also adds support for Razer peripheral haptics and fixes over-saturated HDR highlights under the AgX tonemapper. Remedy's notes point PC players toward a fresh optional AMD driver, released alongside the patch, that the company says further improves performance and fixes additional crashes.

05What's Still Coming: Photo Mode and More Cosmetics

New Game++ was only half of what Remedy promised for Control Resonant's post-launch support. The studio has confirmed a dedicated Photo Mode for November, built with input from community photographers, after deciding to hold it back from the September launch so the team could focus on shipping a stable base game. Remedy has also said future updates will add more cosmetic pieces for Dylan, without giving specifics yet on what they'll be or when they'll land.

06How to Get Game Update 1.4.0

Game Update 1.4.0 is already live on every platform — Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S — and should download automatically the next time you launch Control Resonant. Remedy hasn't published a file size for the patch. If you're playing on PC with a Radeon GPU, it's worth grabbing AMD's new optional driver mentioned above before you jump into a New Game++ run, since it targets some of the same crash reports this update addresses. The patch also quietly increases the number of save game slots on the main menu and fixes an issue where a disconnected Steam Controller — and other controllers running through Steam Input — wouldn't reconnect mid-session, so you shouldn't need to restart the game to get your pad back.
