Marvel Rivals' version 20261029 update went live on October 29 at 09:00 UTC, and NetEase says there's no server downtime attached to it. The headline addition is a new Halloween event called Night of Illusions, alongside a wave of store bundles and a short list of hero and map bug fixes. There are no hero balance changes in this patch.

01What's New in the October 29 Update

According to the official patch notes, the update's content splits into three buckets: the Night of Illusions seasonal event, six new store items split across two hero cosmetic lines, and a handful of fixes touching five heroes, one map, and the in-game store UI. NetEase didn't attach any new hero, new map, or ability tuning to this build, which puts the focus squarely on the event and its rewards rather than the Season 10.5 meta.

TipNight of Illusions progress is account-wide for the two-month run, so it's fine to clear one room per session instead of rushing all five at once.

02Night of Illusions Explained

Night of Illusions runs from October 29, 2026 at 09:00 UTC through December 31, 2026 at 09:00 UTC, giving players roughly two months to clear it. The setup casts Elsa Bloodstone stepping into a strange house to uncover the truth behind a ritual, and the event itself plays out as an escape-room challenge: five rooms, each with its own puzzle, standing between you and a set of limited-time rewards. NetEase hasn't published a full reward list, but confirmed drops include rare Gallery Cards, in-game Units, and Sprays.

The official Marvel Rivals account framed it as a spooky companion to the anniversary-style events the game has run before, without naming a specific predecessor event.

03New Store Bundles and Cosmetics

Six items arrive on the storefront starting October 30 at 02:00 UTC, split across two character lines:

  • Winter Soldier – Celestial Soldier Bundle: available October 30, 02:00 UTC through November 27, 02:00 UTC.
  • Winter Soldier – Celestial Soldier Emoji Bundle and Chroma variants (Iris Nebula and Pipe Nebula), plus a matching Ultimate Ability VFX.
  • Storm – Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Bundle, with its own Ultimate Ability VFX.
  • Iron Man – Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Bundle.

The Tōkon-branded pieces tie into Arc System Works' crossover fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, continuing the cross-promotion NetEase has leaned on for several seasons now. Only the Winter Soldier bundle carries a confirmed removal date; the patch notes don't list an end date for the other five items.

04Hero and Map Bug Fixes

None of the fixes in this build change damage, health, or cooldown values. They're all behavior corrections:

  • Gorr: fixed a bug that could launch him outside the map if he cast Shadow Harvest right after generating a Black Berserker.
  • Rogue: fixed her left arm clipping through her X-Men '97 Season 2 cape while walking backward.
  • Black Cat: fixed her Fatal Weaver overhead icon disappearing during the Binding Ties Team-Up with Spider-Man, and fixed the Q key still triggering the second phase of her Ultimate when it had been rebound.
  • Invisible Woman: fixed other abilities not reliably breaking her stealth when she entered it through Veiled Step.
  • Moon Knight: fixed his Ankh-specific build sometimes blocking Ankh placement when no Traits were equipped.

05No Balance Changes This Patch

If you're tracking the Season 10.5 meta, this update won't move it. NetEase's notes are explicit that there's no hero balance pass here, which is a break from the more frequent tuning cycles the game has run through most of this year. Beyond the hero fixes above, the only other changes are a Times Square map fix (players who hit "One More Round" from a Times Square match couldn't return there afterward) and a store UI fix for a navigation bar that could drift off-screen after clearing every Pop & Win reward.

06How to Join Night of Illusions

The event unlocks automatically once you're on version 20261029, with no separate download or unlock quest. Open the event tab from the main menu to queue into the five escape rooms; you don't need to clear them in one sitting, since progress and unclaimed rewards carry over for the full two-month run. If you're also chasing the new cosmetics, note that the Winter Soldier bundle is the only item on a hard deadline (November 27), so prioritize that one first if the price fits your budget.

07What's Next for Marvel Rivals

NetEase hasn't detailed what follows Night of Illusions once it closes on December 31, though the studio's cadence this year points toward a winter-themed follow-up event around the same window. For now, the patch notes and the in-game announcement are the only confirmed sources on what's changing — treat any damage-number or new-hero rumors for this specific build as unconfirmed until NetEase posts a follow-up update.

You can read the full, unedited notes on the official Marvel Rivals news archive or check the game's Steam store page for the current build version.
