Rainbow Six Siege's Year 11 is heading into its final season, and Ubisoft just used its sixth Community Checkpoint to lay out where the tactical shooter's ranked scene, balance patches, and experimental features are headed next. The recap, posted by the Siege team on November 2, covers a stricter Legend Division, the end of seasonal Ranked map rotations, the Y11S3.3 balance pass, and a first look at what Year 11 Season 4 brings to casual playlists.

01Legend Division Tightens Its Entry Requirements

Legend Division, the permanent solo-queue playlist that launched with Operation Split Fire's mid-season update, is reserved for Champion-ranked players who clear a specific checklist. According to Ubisoft, you need the R6 Shieldguard Secure Platform active, Secure Boot and 2-Step Account Verification enabled, a current Champion rank, Clearance Level 200 or higher, a Platinum rank or above from the previous season, and a Reputation Standing of level three or higher.

Ubisoft says the playlist is intentionally run with a more competitive ruleset than standard Ranked, which is why the bar to enter is so high: the goal is to keep the queue "competitive, trustworthy, and rewarding" for the players who already have the most on the line. The developers say they're watching community feedback closely as the mode settles in, since this is still its first season live.

02Ranked Is Giving Up Seasonal Map Rotations

Starting next season, Siege's Ranked playlist stops rotating its map pool every season. The team says the feature was meant to keep Ranked feeling fresh, but in practice it mostly annoyed players whenever a favorite map got benched for one they liked less. Ubisoft is reverting to a "best of" pool instead: each Ranked season will keep roughly 15 maps in rotation, including the nine maps currently used in Pro League competition.

That's a notable philosophy shift for competitive Siege. Rather than cycling the pool to manufacture variety, Ubisoft is betting that a stable, curated map list helps players master callouts and site strategies over a longer stretch, which should matter most to anyone grinding toward Champion for Legend Division eligibility.

03Y11S3.3's Operator and Gameplay Balance Changes

The checkpoint also recapped the Operator and gameplay tuning that shipped with the Operation Split Fire mid-season update, alongside a preview of the smaller Y11S3.3 patch. Noor's Horus Lance Launcher got the biggest overhaul of the update:

OperatorChange
NoorHorus Lance Launcher drill time cut to 1.5s (from 2s); guard-break vs. ballistic shields raised to 100% (from 30%); equip time cut to 0.4s (from 0.9s) via Quickdraw; direct impact damage raised to 80 (from 50)
TachankaShumikha Launcher gains a fire-mode toggle between Impact (explodes on any surface) and Bounce (passes through fragile surfaces like glass)
SnakeSoliton Radar MK III precision charges reduced to three (from four)
ValkyrieGlaive-12 added as a secondary weapon
CapitãoDelay between fire-bolt expansions cut to 0.9s (from 1s)
ClashSlowdown effect on fleeing targets raised to 10% (from 5%)
OSADeployment-space restrictions reduced across the board
Fire (general)Damage raised to 14 HP per tick (from 12), affecting Tachanka, Goyo, Capitão, Dokkaebi, Noor and gas pipes

Looking ahead, Ubisoft confirmed a TCSG nerf is coming in Year 11 Season 4 after hearing player feedback, and the upcoming Y11S3.3 patch will add smaller tweaks to Denari, Jackal, and Commando. The team also flagged that it's testing prototype changes for Mira and Zofia to make them more enjoyable without confirming any specific balance update yet, and said the .1 and .3 mid-season patches going forward will carry fewer, more impactful changes rather than the smaller, harder-to-notice tweaks players have been getting this year.

04Testing Grounds Gets a Bigger Role, Starting With Hostage

Ubisoft is expanding Testing Grounds, the limited-time event format it uses to try out ideas without touching live matches. The next Testing Grounds run arrives in Year 11 Season 4 and will trial Half Reinforcements, a change to defensive wall-building and site construction. Players who try it are asked to fill out an in-game QR code survey so the dev team can weigh feedback before deciding whether the feature goes live for good.

After that, the next Testing Grounds will carry a full rework of the Hostage mode, which Ubisoft says has already been shaped by feedback from players and content creators during development. The studio frames this as a long-term path to eventually bringing Hostage back into competitive Siege, but it's explicit that nothing about Ranked inclusion is locked in: the mode "needs to be fun, strategically deep, fair for both sides" before that conversation goes any further.

05What's Coming in Year 11 Season 4

Beyond the Hostage rework, Season 4 brings two concrete changes to casual play. Hostage and Secure Area are returning to the standard Quick Match rotation, giving both underused modes a chance to pick up more regular traffic outside of the Testing Grounds sandbox. And the 3v3 Arcade mode introduced during Operation Split Fire — smaller squads, faster rounds, and tighter attack-and-defend play — is becoming a permanent fixture after turning into one of the most-played limited-time modes Siege has ever shipped.

None of these changes have exact release dates attached yet beyond "Season 4," so expect specifics — including the TCSG nerf and the Denari, Jackal, and Commando tweaks promised for Y11S3.3 — to land in Ubisoft's usual pre-season patch notes. You can track Rainbow Six Siege's full update history on its Steam store page or Ubisoft's own news hub as Year 11 closes out.

FAQ

What is Rainbow Six Siege's Legend Division?

Legend Division is a permanent solo-queue playlist for Champion-ranked players, launched with the Operation Split Fire mid-season update. It requires Champion rank, Clearance Level 200+, a Platinum+ rank from the prior season, Reputation Standing level 3+, and security features like Secure Boot and 2-Step Account Verification.

Why is Ranked removing seasonal map rotations?

Ubisoft says rotating the Ranked map pool every season mostly frustrated players when a favorite map got swapped out. Starting next season, Ranked will use a fixed 'best of' pool of about 15 maps, including the nine currently used in Pro League.

When do the Y11S3.3 balance changes go live?

Ubisoft hasn't given an exact date in this checkpoint. It confirmed Y11S3.3 will add smaller tweaks to Denari, Jackal, and Commando, and that a TCSG nerf is planned for Year 11 Season 4.

Is Hostage mode coming back to Ranked in Rainbow Six Siege?

It's unconfirmed. Ubisoft says a reworked Hostage mode will go through Testing Grounds first, with any move back into competitive Siege depending on feedback from that test.

What's new in Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 4?

Hostage and Secure Area return to the Quick Match rotation, the 3v3 Arcade mode becomes a permanent playlist, and a Testing Grounds event trialing Half Reinforcements arrives ahead of the Hostage rework.
