Marvel Cosmic Invasion: Siege of Castle Doom Gameplay Shown
Marvel Cosmic Invasion's Siege of Castle Doom DLC reveals Doctor Doom and Invisible Woman gameplay, a new roguelite mode, and a November 10 release date.
Dotemu and Tribute Games revealed new gameplay details today for The Siege of Castle Doom, the second expansion for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, confirming a November 10 release date alongside a first proper look at its new game mode, playable characters and mechanics.
01What's new in the Siege of Castle Doom DLC
The announcement came from Tribute Games level designer Kevin Chiasson in an official PlayStation Blog post, which lays out the structure of the expansion's new mode for the first time. Rather than another set of linear beat 'em up stages, Castle Doomstadt is built as an evolving, replayable run through Doctor Doom's own fortress, mixing the series' classic brawling with systems closer to a roguelite.
The DLC adds two playable heroes to the roster, brings a fully new mode built around Doom himself, and expands on the unlock systems players have been building up since launch. It is the second paid expansion for the game, following an earlier DLC that added Cyclops and The Thing.

02Doctor Doom and Invisible Woman join the roster
The headline additions are Doctor Doom and the Invisible Woman, who both join the existing lineup of 15 heroes once the expansion launches. Doom is pitched as the biggest threat players have faced yet, combining his armored tech with occult ability, while Susan Storm brings light-bending powers and force-field manipulation drawn from her Fantastic Four kit. With their addition, the roster grows to 17 playable Super Heroes across the base game and its expansions.
Both characters get their own movesets and combo options rather than reused animations, continuing the approach Tribute Games has taken with every previous DLC fighter.
03Inside Castle Doomstadt: how the new mode works
The new mode's core tension comes from two gauges running in parallel. A Siege Gauge fills whenever heroes are defeated by enemies inside the castle, and Doom's own Cosmic Inductor charges alongside it. Players push back by collecting batteries during fights to fill a separate Stabilizer gauge, which slows Doom's progress — turning every run into a race between the player's momentum and the villain's.
Movement through the castle is handled through a system of themed doors, each offering a different kind of reward or complication:
- Equipment doors grant special powers such as force fields and energy blasts.
- Event doors lead to arenas where the normal rules temporarily change, for better or worse.
- Heal doors restore health between fights.
- Infinite doors grant temporary infinite ammo or infinite focus.
- Progression doors hand out random batteries toward the Stabilizer gauge.
The mode spans several distinct areas, including the Halls of Doom, the wind-blasted Castle Battlements, and the elevator-laden Tower of Solitude, with Reed Richards providing voiced guidance over the run while Doom mocks players' progress. According to the PlayStation Blog post, the mode packs in more than five times the encounters found in the main campaign, along with new traps and hazards exclusive to the expansion.
04Perks, multiplayer and Reed Richards' Lab
Runs are shaped further by a perk system split across Offense, Defense and Tactical branches, with perks applying individually to each hero on a player's team rather than the whole squad at once. For multiplayer groups, an MVP system highlights whoever contributed most to a successful siege, giving co-op runs their own bragging rights.
Outside of runs, Stabilizers collected during play unlock new gear, events and modifiers back at Reed Richards' Lab, and finishing a full run unlocks a new palette for the hero used. It's a meta-progression layer the base campaign didn't really need, built specifically around the mode's repeatable structure.

05When you can play it
The Siege of Castle Doom launches November 10 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, matching the platforms Marvel Cosmic Invasion already shipped on. Dotemu and Tribute Games haven't confirmed pricing for the standalone expansion as of this reveal; the first DLC, which added Cyclops and The Thing, released as a separate paid purchase rather than a free update.
The timing isn't a coincidence — Doctor Doom's starring role positions the DLC as a lead-in to Marvel's wider Doomsday-era storytelling across film and games this season, even though Cosmic Invasion's take on the character stays within its own beat 'em up continuity.
