No Man's Sky Cosmos 7.02 Patch Notes: Corvette and AMD Fixes

No Man's Sky's Cosmos 7.02 patch fixes corvette piloting and building bugs, AMD GPU cloud rendering, and deep-space base placement bugs today.

Hello Games shipped Cosmos 7.02 for No Man's Sky on September 15, 2026, the second follow-up patch after last week's Cosmos (7.0) update reworked how space itself plays. Where 7.0 added ownable space stations, galactic alliances and deep-space salvage, 7.02 is a stability pass: it targets corvette piloting and building bugs, a cloud-rendering problem on AMD graphics cards, and several deep-space and base-placement issues that turned up once the update reached everyone. The patch is live now on Steam, with other platforms to follow as builds clear certification.

01What Cosmos 7.02 fixes after last week's launch

Cosmos went free on every platform on September 9, 2026, letting players become director of their own space station, join a galactic alliance, build orbital bases and salvage the vast derelict "hulks" now scattered through deep space. Systems also gained fixed, re-visitable points of interest: asteroid belts, inhabited outposts, infested bio-wrecks, debris fields and the star itself all now show up on a reworked star map before you jump. Hello Games followed the launch with hotfix 7.01 on September 10, and 7.02, released five days later, rolls in another round of community-reported fixes rather than new content. The official patch notes describe it simply as containing gameplay and stability fixes, and it went out first on Steam, matching the platform order Hello Games used for 7.0 and 7.01.

02Corvette piloting and building bugs are fixed

The corvette, Cosmos's new pilotable and buildable ship class, gets the largest share of fixes in 7.02. Corvette orientation no longer resets after loading a save, and the phase beam no longer hits the corvette's own cockpit when fired in first-person view. The Ambassador corvette's cockpit handles now work correctly in VR, and the boarding ramp no longer loads stuck in a closed state after you save and reload while standing on it. Hello Games also corrected a camera misalignment when transitioning from walking on foot into piloting a corvette, re-enabled the free placement mode toggle while editing a corvette's interior, and fixed a crash that could occur while building one. Together these were among the most-reported issues in the week after launch, since building and flying a corvette is one of the first things Cosmos pushes new and returning players toward.

03AMD GPU cloud rendering and graphics fixes

PC players on AMD graphics cards had reported broken cloud rendering since Cosmos launched, with clouds appearing corrupted or missing entirely in some systems; 7.02 fixes that issue directly and adds general visual improvements to how clouds render for everyone, not only AMD users. The patch also stops starship trails from flickering during flight and optimizes volumetric fog performance, both areas that Cosmos's new deep-space visuals, including nebulae and denser asteroid fields, put under more strain than the game's older space rendering did.

04Deep-space and base-placement corrections

Several fixes target the new deep-space systems Cosmos introduced. The Deep-Space Base Computer, the structure that lets you claim a base outside a planet's atmosphere, could previously be placed for free; that exploit is closed in 7.02. Hello Games also resolved incorrect gravity behavior on planetary base parts, fixed a bug that made a system's star render at the wrong size from certain viewing distances, and addressed gravity issues around freighters that could pull nearby objects or players off course unexpectedly.

05The smaller fixes worth knowing

  • Fruit Tree base part. An invisible "Fruit Tree" decoration is now visible again after placement, instead of leaving an empty gap in your base.
  • Pirate count in missions. Mission text that reported triple the actual number of pirate starships in a bounty or defense mission now shows the correct count.
  • Organic frigate dialogue. Repeated dialogue lines from organic frigates during expeditions are resolved.
  • Space station decorations. Collision sphere issues on space station decorations are fixed, which had been snagging movement and camera angles near them.

06What to do first if you fly a corvette

If you built or bought a corvette in the first week of Cosmos, update to 7.02 before your next flight. The orientation-reset and stuck-ramp bugs both needed a full save reload to trigger, so a fresh session after patching should clear any ship left in a broken state. Players on AMD GPUs should notice clouds rendering correctly again immediately; if not, verify your game files on Steam before reporting it as a new issue. If you haven't tried Cosmos yet, 7.02 is a good time to start, since the update fixes several of the rough edges early adopters hit in the first week.

TipRelaunch the game after installing 7.02 if you have a corvette from before the patch — a fresh load clears the orientation-reset and stuck-ramp bugs that needed a save reload to trigger under 7.0 and 7.01.

FAQ

What is No Man's Sky Cosmos 7.02?

Cosmos 7.02 is a stability patch for No Man's Sky's 7.0 Cosmos update, released September 15, 2026. It fixes corvette piloting and building bugs, an AMD GPU cloud-rendering issue, and several deep-space and base-placement problems, without adding new content.

When did Cosmos 7.02 release and on which platforms?

Hello Games released Cosmos 7.02 on September 15, 2026, first on Steam. Other platforms follow as builds clear certification, the same rollout order used for the 7.0 launch on September 9 and hotfix 7.01 on September 10.

Does Cosmos 7.02 fix the AMD GPU cloud rendering bug?

Yes. The patch notes list a fix for cloud rendering on AMD GPUs alongside general visual improvements to clouds, plus fixes for starship trail flickering and volumetric fog performance.

What did the earlier Cosmos patches, 7.0 and 7.01, change?

Cosmos 7.0, released September 9, 2026, let players own and direct a space station, join a galactic alliance, build orbital bases and explore new deep-space points of interest like asteroid belts and derelict hulks. Hotfix 7.01 followed on September 10 with early stability fixes ahead of 7.02.
