VALORANT Patch 13.08: Corrode Reworked, Map Rating Added

VALORANT's Patch 13.08 reworks Corrode's mid, swaps Bind in for Ascent and Split, and adds a private Map Rating score for every ranked map you play.

VALORANT's Patch 13.08 went live on October 13, opening Act 6 with the biggest map pool shake-up in months. Bind and Corrode return to Competitive and Deathmatch, Ascent and Split step out, and Corrode itself gets reworked Mid and site layouts. Riot also added Map Rating, a new per-map performance score, and published its anti-cheat numbers for the Act 5 enforcement window.

01Corrode's Mid Gets a Rework

Corrode's changes focus on Mid and the two bombsites rather than a full redesign. The half wall in Mid is now metal and has moved out a meter, which cuts down on wall spam and lets attackers reach A Link without being seen from Top Mid. The boxes at the back of Lower Mid have shifted toward B site and gained a jump-up, and the Lower Mid wall has been raised to block peeks from those same boxes.

Defender rotation paths into the back of both A and B site have also been widened, which Riot says is meant to shorten rotation times and make retakes less of a coin flip. The A Site plant zone was adjusted too, specifically to make holding a post-plant from A Link less effective than it currently is.

02Bind Returns, Ascent and Split Step Out

With 13.08, Bind and Corrode are both in the Competitive and Deathmatch map pools, while Ascent and Split have been pulled from those same two queues. Riot's official patch notes are careful to note that this isn't a full removal — Ascent and Split still show up in other modes, they're just out of ranked and Deathmatch rotation for now.

The client also picked up a new Queue and Mode Select interface for both matchmade and custom games, plus a Career navigation bar that links directly to Rank Legacy, Accolades, and the new Map Rating page.

03Map Rating Scores Every Map You Play

Map Rating is the headline system added in this patch. It gives you a score from 0 to 500 and a letter grade from C to S for each map, calculated from your Overall Win Rate, Attacker Win Rate, Defender Win Rate, and Performance Score, with recent matches weighted more heavily than older ones. It's available in Competitive and Premier, it's private to your own account, and everyone starts from zero — matches played before the feature launched don't count toward it.

The Performance Score behind Map Rating isn't brand new; Riot increased its sensitivity to Damage, Adjusted Kills, and Adjusted Deaths (factoring in First Bloods and First Deaths) back in Patch 13.06, along with Chamber-specific adjustments for his utility use. 13.08 is the first patch where that scoring actually surfaces to players through Map Rating.

TipIf ranked queue keeps putting you on Corrode or Bind, use this patch to relearn their callouts now — Map Rating starts tracking your results on every map the moment you log in, and old matches before launch won't count toward it.

04Agent and Weapon Changes Are Minimal

Outside of the map pool and Map Rating, 13.08 is a quiet patch for balance. There's no agent ability rework or weapon tuning pass this time — the only agent-side change is a VFX and audio fix so Killjoy's Alarmbot properly signals when its projectile is destroyed by a moving doorway, and the only weapon fix corrects the Warden's scope reticle, which was misaligned during full-auto fire.

05Bug Fixes and Known Issues

The patch also cleans up a handful of audio bugs grouped under Fog of War: alternate footstep sounds that sometimes failed to play, bodyfall audio that played from the wrong location when an agent died, and gun bounce audio that occasionally didn't trigger. On the Competitive side, an incorrect threshold shown for the Masterful accolade has been fixed.

Two known issues are still open. Team MVP sometimes displays incorrectly in Match History, with a fix in progress, and Practice Range in Queue has been disabled entirely after it put some players into a bugged queue state — Riot says a fix is being tested before it returns.

06Riot's Anti-Cheat Numbers for Act 5

Alongside the patch, Riot published its penalty totals for the Act 5 detection period, running August 18 through October 1. Accounts banned for three or more days break down as 171,000+ for cheating, 54,000+ for botting, 76,000+ for rank manipulation, 74,000+ for toxicity or comms abuse, 288,000+ for repeated AFK or gameplay abuse, and 14,000+ for streamsniping or instalocking tools. The rank manipulation figure splits further into boostees, hitchhikers, boosters, and win-trading or account-selling cases, while toxicity splits into inappropriate text and inappropriate voice reports.

Full details on every change, plus the complete bug fix and known issue lists, are in Riot's 13.08 patch notes. Players running into client or account issues after updating can check VALORANT Support directly.
