Helldivers 2 Patch 7.1.0: TD-110 Maelstrom Tank Revealed
Helldivers 2's Devoid of Liberty 7.1.0 patch reworks enemy spawns and Evacuate High-Value Assets, and a new trailer teases the TD-110 Maelstrom tank.
Arrowhead Game Studios pushed Devoid of Liberty: 7.1.0 live on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, and it lands alongside the first official tease of a new armored vehicle, the TD-110 Maelstrom. Between the two, it's the biggest 72 hours Helldivers 2 has had since the last major balance pass, and none of it requires a fresh mission unlock — just an update download.
01Devoid of Liberty: 7.1.0 Hits Every Platform
The patch, posted through Arrowhead's official Steam Community channel, is built almost entirely around community-requested fixes rather than new content. That includes vehicle AI targeting, career-stat tracking, a rare reinforcement softlock, and a new leaderboard system tied to each player's own Super Destroyer. Update 7.1.0 follows two smaller hotfixes, 7.0.1 and 7.0.2, that Arrowhead shipped earlier this month to stabilize the Devoid of Liberty content drop.
02Community Feedback Changes and Fixes
The patch notes open with a direct list of fan-reported issues Arrowhead resolved this cycle:
- Enemies will no longer target unoccupied vehicles left parked on the map.
- Career stats now correctly track kills earned through mines, vehicles, drones and backpacks.
- Helldivers can no longer get stuck unable to be reinforced after a squadmate throws a reinforcement stratagem or the whole squad dies under poor network conditions.
- The Ice Plant hazard on arctic planets no longer ragdolls and staggers players more than intended.
- Stratagem Hero now runs on Destroyer-based leaderboards — every Super Destroyer gets its own board, and each player can only occupy one entry on it.
Arrowhead also adjusted how bug-infested zones look and read on the battlefield: outposts and objective areas near Terminid nests now pull their visual style from the biome they sit in, and fog and lighting around those zones were tuned for better visibility. Heavier infestations, like the ones inside the Gloom or on Hive Worlds, are untouched by that change.
03Enemy Spawns and Evacuate High-Value Assets Get Reworked
The most substantial change in 7.1.0 is a rework of how enemies spawn when a squad splits up. Arrowhead says enemy pressure is now measured by both enemy count and distance from each Helldiver, so a player who wandered off with low local pressure is more likely to see enemies spawn near them once the mission's global enemy budget maxes out — instead of the budget getting spent on distant, irrelevant threats. When the enemy count goes over budget, far-away enemies now despawn instead of lingering unused.
Evacuate High-Value Assets missions were rebalanced to feel less trivial in three- and four-player lobbies specifically. The update increases the maximum number of waves, shortens the downtime between them — the starting gap drops from 60 seconds to 42, the ending gap from 40 to 28, and the gap between back-to-back waves falls from 10 seconds to as little as 2 — and raises how many enemies can spawn per wave. Encounter points now scale more aggressively as a mission progresses and with more players in the squad, and SEAF reinforcement troops can now spawn into these missions when they're included on the map.

04Weapon and Stratagem Tuning
Away from spawns, a handful of gear changes stand out. The AR/GL-21 One-Two assault rifle's underbarrel grenade launcher gets more ammo to work with — starting rounds rise from 2 to 3, max spare from 3 to 5, and refills from 3 to 5 — so the weapon leans harder into being a flexible hybrid rather than a rifle with a rarely-used attachment. The LAS-13 Trident had an unintended side effect from its beam-weapon code reversed, cutting its vertical climb recoil from 12 down to 2. The G/40 Melta Mine can no longer stick to Helldivers, enemies or vehicles at odd angles or float in mid-air; it now arms on a timer once thrown unless it lands on terrain. Orbital Precision Strike's cooldown also drops from 90 seconds to 80, closing the gap with other precision options in the stratagem list.

05TD-110 Maelstrom Tank Teased in New Trailer
The same week, Helldivers 2's official X account and PlayStation's YouTube channel put out the first look at a new ground vehicle: the TD-110 Maelstrom. The reveal is styled as an in-universe advertisement for X-UDE, the fictional Super Earth manufacturer, complete with a narrator pitching "a tank in every driveway" and "luxury in every detail" rather than a plain stat-sheet rundown. Arrowhead hasn't published a spec breakdown or unlock method for the Maelstrom in an official patch note yet, so weapon loadout, crew size and how Helldivers will earn it remain unconfirmed until that follows.
The tease follows the same marketing playbook Arrowhead used for the Ironclad Democracy Warbond and earlier vehicle reveals: a short, in-fiction ad first, full patch details later. The official account's post from earlier in the week set up the reveal in the same voice.
We're giving you the one thing you need to arrive with impact: the TD-110 Maelstrom from X-UDE. A Tank in Every Driveway. Luxury in every detail.

06What to Watch For Next
Full patch notes for Devoid of Liberty: 7.1.0, including the complete fix list, are posted on Helldivers 2's official Steam Community page. Arrowhead has been shipping point updates roughly every one to two weeks since Devoid of Liberty launched, so expect the TD-110 Maelstrom's actual in-game debut — and its real numbers — to show up in a follow-up patch note rather than the trailer itself. Until then, the safest read is to treat the tank as confirmed and coming, with everything else about it unconfirmed.
FAQ
When did Helldivers 2's Devoid of Liberty 7.1.0 update release?
Arrowhead Game Studios released it on September 22, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
What does the 7.1.0 patch change about enemy spawns?
Enemy pressure is now measured by enemy count and distance from each Helldiver, so spawns favor players who wandered away from the group instead of wasting the enemy budget on distant threats, and enemies far over budget now despawn.
Is the TD-110 Maelstrom tank playable yet?
Arrowhead has only released an in-universe reveal trailer and a teaser post so far. The tank's weapon loadout, crew size and unlock method have not been confirmed in an official patch note.
Did 7.1.0 change any weapons?
Yes. The AR/GL-21 One-Two got more grenade ammo, the LAS-13 Trident's vertical climb recoil was cut from 12 to 2, the G/40 Melta Mine can no longer stick to Helldivers or vehicles, and Orbital Precision Strike's cooldown dropped from 90 to 80 seconds.
Where can I read the full patch notes?
Arrowhead posted the complete changelog on Helldivers 2's official Steam Community announcements page.
