World of Warcraft: Forever WARPATH Trailer Breakdown

Blizzard's WARPATH launch trailer for World of Warcraft: Forever pairs Amy Lee, Poppy and Courtney LaPlante with the roadmap taking Forever through next summer.

Blizzard closed out the run-up to launch day with a music video instead of a conventional gameplay trailer. WARPATH, the official AMV launch trailer for World of Warcraft: Forever, dropped on the Warcraft YouTube channel on October 27 and has been the game's loudest piece of marketing ever since — not because it shows new zones or boss fights, but because of who is singing over it. Here is what the trailer actually shows, what it confirms about launch day, and why Blizzard picked this moment to lean on a song instead of a voiceover.

TipWatch WARPATH with the sound on before you log in. Blizzard buried its only hint about November's PvP season refresh in the lyrics-driven Alliance-vs-Horde framing, and it is easy to miss entirely on mute.

01What WARPATH actually is

WARPATH is an animated music video built around "End of You," performed by Amy Lee (Evanescence), Poppy, and Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), licensed through Sumerian Records and Virgin Music Group. Blizzard made the roughly three-and-a-half-minute cinematic with animation studio Brunch Studio, and its framing is blunt: "Alliance. Horde. War." There is no narrator and almost no dialogue — the entire two-faction conflict plays out through quick-cut animated vignettes synced to the track's buildup and chorus.

That choice matters because World of Warcraft: Forever isn't selling itself as a new expansion with a villain to defeat. It's a new permanent server type set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, built around the original continents and the original Alliance-versus-Horde tension. A trailer about faction conflict, rendered with no new raid boss or cutscene reveal to hide behind, is Blizzard's way of saying the pitch here is nostalgia and rivalry, not a fresh antagonist.

02The launch it's counting down to

World of Warcraft: Forever went live globally on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, included with any active WoW subscription or Game Time. Players level through the original continents up to 60, with the new Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience available through the paid Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection on the Battle.net Shop — base access to the mode itself does not require any of those upgrades.

The BlizzCon panels that preceded WARPATH filled in what launch day covers: Senior Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, Lead Classic Designer Tim Jones, Lead Software Engineer Nora Mills, and Associate Production Director Clay Stone used the What's Next panel to walk through new regions, dungeons, the Skyborne race, and a new Legacy progression system layered on top of the classic leveling loop. A separate Deep Dive panel, led by Clay Stone alongside Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield, Lead Software Engineer Ana Resendez, and Principal Game Designer Kris Zierhut, focused on the systems meant to make the reimagined Azeroth feel alive rather than like a re-skinned Classic server.

03The roadmap WARPATH is teasing

Blizzard paired the trailer with a public 2026–2027 roadmap, and it's worth reading alongside the video since it puts real dates on everything the AMV only gestures at. Beta ran September 17 through October 22, early name reservation and character creation opened October 27, and launch landed November 4 as shown above. From there:

  • December 9 — raids unlock: Barrow Deeps (10-player), Hyjal Summit (20-player), and Onyxia's Lair (40-player)
  • Winter — a separate Hardcore variant of World of Warcraft: Forever launches
  • Spring — two new raids (10- and 20-player), two new dungeons, a new legendary questline, new quests and playable area, and a PvP season refresh
  • Summer — a revamped iconic raid, another new raid, expanded world content, two more dungeons, another PvP season refresh, and profession and Legacy system updates

Blizzard is explicit that everything past the December raid unlock is subject to change based on player feedback and timing, so treat spring and summer as directional rather than locked.

04What the trailer skips entirely

WARPATH doesn't show a single frame of UI, a dungeon layout, or the new Skyborne race's starting zone — that's all left to the panel recaps and, soon, to players logging in themselves. It also doesn't explain the Legacy system mechanically beyond naming it, and Blizzard hasn't published a deeper breakdown of how it interacts with the classic leveling curve. If you're deciding whether to buy into one of the pre-purchase packs for the Skyborne race or early access perks, that's unconfirmed territory until Blizzard or players document it after launch โ€” this is as good a moment as any to pair the cinematic hype with a proper leveling and build guide once you're actually in the new Azeroth.

The trailer is also careful to show generic Alliance and Horde iconography rather than specific NPCs tied to the Forever timeline. Community reaction threads have floated guesses about which animated shots correspond to Barrow Deeps or Hyjal Summit specifically, but none of that is confirmed by Blizzard — treat any shot-by-shot zone identification you see elsewhere as unconfirmed fan reading rather than official word.

05How WARPATH fits the rest of Blizzard's rollout

WARPATH wasn't released in isolation. Blizzard paired BlizzCon's What's Next and Deep Dive panel recaps with a separate "Found Photos" panel recap built around the idea of familiar corners of the original Azeroth map — a sealed gate, an unexplained ruin, a road that always seemed to keep going — becoming starting points for new content in Forever. WARPATH is the emotional capstone of that whole campaign: the panels explained the systems, and the trailer sells the feeling of returning to a world you already know by heart. If you've skipped the panel recaps, the trailer alone will not tell you what the Legacy system does, how Skyborne's starting zone plays, or which professions get touched this spring; for that, Blizzard's own "Carve a New Path" announcement is the more useful read.

06Why the song choice is the real story

Pairing three prominent women in rock — Amy Lee, Poppy, and Courtney LaPlante — on one track is unusual marketing even by Blizzard's own history of licensed launch songs, and at least one outlet covering the drop reports "End of You" previously topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in February 2026 (unconfirmed independently here), which would have given the trailer built-in reach outside the usual WoW audience before a single screenshot of Forever's new content leaked. It's a deliberate bet: let the song carry the video to listeners who've never logged into Azeroth, then let the November 4 launch and the roadmap above do the job of converting that attention into subscribers.
