Battlefield 6's Season 5 update, version 2.1.1.0, landed on October 13 and brought the deepest weapon and vehicle rebalance the game has had since launch. Four new guns joined the arsenal, Mobile Anti-Air finally got teeth, and almost every PDW, carbine, assault rifle and LMG in REDSEC now needs one more bullet to put down an armored target. This tier list ranks where the existing roster stands after those changes, built entirely from the numbers in EA's own patch notes for update 2.1.1.0.

This is an opinion ranking, not a leaked damage calculator. We're weighing the verified stat changes against how each weapon actually plays across Conquest, Breakthrough and REDSEC, so reasonable players could land an S differently. Treat it as a starting point for your own testing, and note upfront that several of the biggest changes below apply specifically to REDSEC's Battle Royale and Rapid Royale modes, not core multiplayer.

01What Changed in the Season 5 Update

Update 2.1.1.0 shipped alongside Season 5, "Siege of Vegas," adding two new Vegas-themed maps at launch with a third planned later in the season, plus four new weapons: the Mk 24 Assault Rifle, the RSPR Personal Defence Weapon, the 100-round Z84M Light Machine Gun and the ELR-40 bolt-action Sniper Rifle. For the new maps, new modes and the full weapon and vehicle unlock list, our Season 5 weapons and Rapid Royale guide and the full patch notes breakdown cover the launch content this tier list builds on. EA's official community notes describe the headline change as armored targets in REDSEC becoming tougher: PDWs, Carbines, Assault Rifles and LMGs now "require an additional bullet to eliminate armored targets at specific ranges," spread across more than twenty weapons depending on range band.

Two changes cut across every mode, not just REDSEC. The SVDM marksman rifle's recoil direction spread widened from 4° to 20°, and gamepad recoil compensation was cut from 11% down to 5%, which hits controller players disproportionately on every weapon in the game, not just the ones named in the armor notes. On the vehicle side, Mobile Anti-Air got a 50% faster turret rotation and a flatter projectile arc, while light attack helicopters lost a chunk of their infantry-pressure power.

REDSEC itself also got a wider loadout shake-up outside of raw weapon numbers. Armor plating now applies 20% faster for every class by default, with an additional 12% on top of that for Engineers running the Quick Plating field-training perk, so EA scaled back the passive replating speed bonus elsewhere to compensate. The Hazmat Breacher and Drone Operator field-training paths were removed entirely, Supply Pouches now hand out fixed ammo amounts per weapon category instead of a flat number, and Battle Royale matchmaking now locks during the final ten seconds of the pre-round lobby. None of that shows up on a weapon's stat card, but it changes how often you're actually fighting an armored target in the first place, which matters just as much as the bullet-count changes below.

TipREDSEC and core multiplayer run different armor math this season — the extra-bullet changes only apply to REDSEC's Battle Royale and Rapid Royale modes, so check which playlist you're in before you blame your loadout for a bad gunfight.

02New Arrivals: The Four Season 5 Weapons

The Mk 24 Assault Rifle, RSPR PDW, Z84M LMG and ELR-40 Sniper Rifle all launched with Season 5 and none of them appear anywhere in the balance-change notes, which makes sense since they didn't exist in the previous patch. We're leaving all four unranked below rather than guessing at numbers nobody has published yet. The Z84M's 100-round magazine is the standout on paper for suppression-heavy Conquest play and sustained REDSEC fights where everyone else is now one bullet away from a slower kill against armor. The ELR-40 slots in as the first dedicated bolt-action option added since launch, giving long-range players an alternative to the now-weaker SVDM and M39 EMR without eating either rifle's new penalties. The RSPR fills the close-range PDW slot alongside the existing roster, and the Mk 24 reads as a straightforward mid-recoil Assault Rifle pick rather than anything built around a gimmick. All four of those reads are unconfirmed until EA or a verified third-party testing pass publishes actual time-to-kill and recoil figures, so treat this section as a shopping list, not a ranking.

03S-Tier: Weapons the Patch Left Alone

None of the standard Assault Rifles, Carbines, LMGs or PDWs that sit outside the armor-penetration list above took any changes in 2.1.1.0. If your loadout isn't named anywhere in EA's patch notes, that's effectively a stealth buff relative to the field: everyone around you just got slower against armor or lost recoil assist, and your gun's numbers are untouched. In REDSEC specifically, that stability is worth more this season than any single stat line, since armor plating itself also got 20% faster to apply, meaning fights against armored opponents are both longer and more common.

04A-Tier: Minor Hits, Still Reliable

The KORD 6p67, RPK-74M, SOR-556 Mk2, L85A3, B36A4, VCR-2, M433, EF88, KTS100 Mk8, M123K and L110 only need the extra bullet against armor past 46 meters in REDSEC. That's a real engagement range in Battle Royale's open desert circles, but it's well past where most of these guns, mostly LMGs and longer-range ARs, actually win their fights. Keep using them at the ranges they were already good at and the patch barely touches you.

05B-Tier: REDSEC Weapons Feeling the Armor Nerf

The SCW-10, KV9, SGX, PW5A3, CZ3A1, PP-19 and SL9 all need the extra bullet against armor across almost their entire effective range, from 9 meters out to 85 meters. The SCW-10 gets hit twice over: on top of the armor change, it now starts with a smaller 15-round magazine when looted at lower rarities in REDSEC. These are still usable guns, especially against unarmored targets, but budget the extra shot into every armored fight or you'll get out-traded by weapons that didn't move.

06C-Tier: SVDM and the Marksman Rifles

The SVDM takes the worst of update 2.1.1.0 by a wide margin. Its recoil direction spread quintupled from 4° to 20°, making sustained fire far less predictable, its recoil recovery curve was also retuned, it can no longer roll or upgrade to a 20-round magazine in REDSEC, and it needs an extra bullet against armor past 21 meters while losing its bonus headshot damage against downed enemies. The M39 EMR shares the recoil recovery change and the same 21-meter armor penalty without the magazine or headshot losses, so it drops less far, but both marksman rifles are a clear step down from where they sat before Season 5.

How to Adjust Your Loadout for Update 2.1.1.0

  1. 1REDSEC's armor-penetration changes and the faster 20% armor plating don't touch core Conquest or Breakthrough, so don't blame a bad multiplayer gunfight on patch notes that only apply to Battle Royale and Rapid Royale.1 min
  2. 2If you're running the SCW-10, KV9, SGX, PW5A3, CZ3A1, PP-19 or SL9 in REDSEC, plan for one more shot on any armored target from close range all the way out to 85 meters.1 match
  3. 3If you've been running the SVDM as a REDSEC marksman pick, its wider recoil spread and lost 20-round magazine make it a worse hold than before. Try the new ELR-40 bolt-action rifle or fall back to the M39 EMR, which took a lighter hit.1-2 matches
  4. 4Loot or unlock the 100-round Z84M LMG and run it in a sustained-fire REDSEC fight. Its magazine size is a genuine edge now that most other weapons need extra bullets to down armor.1 match
  5. 5Mobile Anti-Air's faster turret rotation and longer range make it a much stronger pick against helicopters this season. If you fly light attack choppers, expect more pressure and keep terrain cover ready.Ongoing
  6. 6Controller players lost more than half their recoil compensation, dropping from 11% to 5%. Spend a few minutes in the firing range re-learning vertical recoil on your main weapons before your next match.5 min

07Vehicles and Anti-Air: The Real Winners and Losers

If Season 5 has a true loser, it's light attack aircraft. The Scout Helicopter now needs seven Light Rocket hits to go down instead of four, the Attack Helicopter needs nine instead of five, and the Transport Helicopter needs fifteen instead of eleven, but those higher numbers look generous next to what rocket pods can no longer do: the 70mm FFAR Light Rocket's splash damage against infantry is down 30%, its resupply cooldown is up from 28 to 38 seconds, and Mobile Anti-Air's turret now rotates 50% faster with a flatter, longer-ranged projectile arc out to roughly 800 meters. Stationary 35mm High Velocity AA and the Anti-Armor AA Shell both got steep damage increases against helicopters and jets too, and the Anti-Armor Shell's magazine was cut from eight rounds to four in exchange for a much faster 1.2-second reload. Main Battle Tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicles took a smaller hit of their own: firing now resets their passive health regeneration delay to 12 seconds, and the climb from critical to full health takes 8 seconds for both instead of the 6.66 and 7 seconds they had before. Rear hits between 86° and 94° now deal 2.5x damage, so flanking an armored vehicle is more rewarding than it was last season.

Anti-vehicle gadgets moved too. The LTLM II's laser designation window was cut from 9 seconds down to 2, which is a serious nerf to coordinated guided-munition plays, while the SLM-93A Spire can no longer fire from the hip and now requires aiming down sights every time. The PTKM-1R Acoustic Sensor mine now ignores neutral vehicles and targets transport ground vehicles more reliably, and M15 Anti-Vehicle Mines only trigger on transport vehicles through direct wheel contact, while still keeping their proximity and speed-based activation against armored vehicles. None of these show up in a weapon tier list directly, but they change how safe it is to push a tank or helicopter into a contested lane this season.

FAQ

What does Battlefield 6 update 2.1.1.0 change?

Update 2.1.1.0 launched Season 5, "Siege of Vegas," on October 13 with two new maps, four new weapons, and a REDSEC-wide armor change requiring an extra bullet to down armored targets with most PDWs, Carbines, Assault Rifles and LMGs. It also reworked Mobile Anti-Air, light attack helicopter survivability and Main Battle Tank/IFV health regeneration.

Which Battlefield 6 weapons got nerfed the hardest in Season 5?

The SVDM marksman rifle took the most changes: a recoil direction spread increase from 4° to 20°, the loss of its 20-round REDSEC magazine option, a lost headshot bonus against downed enemies, and the same extra-bullet-vs-armor penalty as the M39 EMR.

Do the REDSEC armor-penetration changes affect core Battlefield 6 multiplayer?

No. The extra-bullet-against-armor changes are specific to REDSEC's Battle Royale and Rapid Royale modes. The SVDM's recoil direction change and the gamepad recoil compensation reduction from 11% to 5% apply everywhere, including core Conquest and Breakthrough.

What are the four new weapons in Battlefield 6 Season 5?

The Mk 24 Assault Rifle, RSPR Personal Defence Weapon, 100-round Z84M Light Machine Gun and ELR-40 bolt-action Sniper Rifle all launched with the Season 5 update on October 13.
